Install and update TRESSO

Installing TRESSO on Windows or macOS, and updating without losing anything.

What this does

TRESSO is a desktop app for Windows and macOS. It runs from your system tray on Windows (and the Dock on a Mac), where it stays so scheduled posts can go out.

Updating is the same action: you run the newest installer over the version you already have. There is no uninstall step, and nothing you have set up is lost.

How to use it

  1. Download the installer from the Download page.
  2. Run it, accept the licence agreement and keep the suggested options. TRESSO installs just for you, so Windows normally does not ask for admin permission.
  3. The installer is signed by Ingreso Bondstone LLC. If Windows shows a Windows protected your PC screen, choose More info, check that the publisher reads Ingreso Bondstone LLC, then choose Run anyway.
  4. Let TRESSO open and add its tray icon, near the clock.

On a Mac (macOS 12 Monterey or later, Apple Silicon or Intel):

  1. Open the downloaded .dmg and drag TRESSO into Applications.
  2. The first time you open it, macOS may say it cannot check the app for malicious software. Open System Settings, then Privacy & Security, scroll to the message about TRESSO and choose Open Anyway. You only do this once.
  3. TRESSO opens and stays in the Dock. Closing its window keeps it running so scheduled posts can go out; click TRESSO in the Dock to bring the window back.

To update on Windows, download the newest installer and run it over your current version; TRESSO opens on the new version when it finishes. On a Mac, quit TRESSO, open the new .dmg and drag TRESSO into Applications, choosing Replace.

TRESSO checks for a new version when it opens, every hour after that, and when you come back to its window. When one is ready, a blue notice appears at the top of every screen with a Download update button. To check straight away, go to Settings > Help and Support > App Updates and choose Check for Updates. If one is ready, choose Download Update.

Versions released before this one show the notice on the Dashboard only and check every 6 hours, so if you are on an older version, look on the Dashboard or use Check for Updates.

A new build can keep the same version number. The notice then reads "A newer build of TRESSO is available"; it is still an update worth installing.

Good to know

Install TRESSO on the computer you keep powered on when posts are scheduled. It posts from your own machine, so that computer needs to be awake and online at posting time. Sleep and wake are handled for you.

Closing the window is fine - TRESSO keeps running in the tray. Quitting it entirely is what stops scheduled posts.

An update keeps your queue, your connected destinations, your license activation and every setting exactly as they were. You never reconnect a destination or re-enter your license key just to update.

If Windows still shows the SmartScreen screen, it is because a new release has not yet built up download reputation with Microsoft. Checking that the publisher reads Ingreso Bondstone LLC confirms the file is genuine.
