What this does
Connects ChatGPT to TRESSO so you can ask it about your posting work, and - if you allow it - ask it to carry out supported TRESSO actions.
Before you start
- Developer mode is a setting inside ChatGPT, and it has to be on before ChatGPT can connect to TRESSO. It cannot be turned on from TRESSO. If you cannot find it, check OpenAI's current requirements - they decide who has it.
- On a work account, an administrator may have to allow it before you can. If you do not administer the account, ask whoever does.
- OpenAI gives you two values to copy across once - a Tunnel ID and a Runtime API key. TRESSO gives you a button for each, stores them securely on this computer, and does the rest itself. There is nothing to install and nothing to keep running.
- Those two values come from OpenAI Platform, which is a separate sign-in from ChatGPT. Use the same account for both, and if a page there says your sign-in has expired, sign in again and reopen it.
- Keep TRESSO open and unlocked on this computer while you use the connection. TRESSO answers ChatGPT from here, so a closed TRESSO is a connection that cannot answer.

How to use it
- In TRESSO, choose Connect on the ChatGPT card. The first step opens ChatGPT so you can turn on developer mode, and links OpenAI's own instructions if you need them.
- Get your two values from OpenAI. TRESSO gives you a button for each one, which opens the page it comes from - Tunnel ID first, then the Runtime API key. Copy the key as soon as OpenAI shows it; it is not shown again. An Admin API key is not the same thing and will not work.
- Paste both values into TRESSO. If OpenAI tells you your sign-in has expired, sign in again and reopen the page - nothing is wrong with TRESSO.
- Choose what ChatGPT may do - View only, or View and make changes.
- Choose Connect ChatGPT, and wait for TRESSO to say it is ready.
- In ChatGPT, add TRESSO where developer mode lets you add your own tool, and choose No authentication when it asks - the two values you pasted are what authorises it.
- Ask ChatGPT a question about your work, such as “What is in my TRESSO posting queue?”

If it does not connect
If you cannot find developer mode in ChatGPT, check OpenAI's current requirements - they decide which accounts have it, and on a work account an administrator may have to allow it first. If OpenAI says your sign-in has expired, sign in again and reopen the page. If you added the connection but ChatGPT cannot see TRESSO, check that the tunnel is ticked for your ChatGPT workspace and not only for your Platform organization - nothing on screen warns you about that - and that TRESSO is open, unlocked and says it is ready. If TRESSO refused the key you pasted, you have most likely copied an Admin API key rather than the Runtime API key. If TRESSO says it is ready but not connected, ask ChatGPT a question about TRESSO - connected appears once TRESSO has answered a real request. If ChatGPT can answer questions about TRESSO but will not carry out an action you asked for, check that you chose View and make changes in TRESSO; OpenAI may also apply its own confirmation requirements to that action. If adding the connection fails while it is asking you to sign in, remove it and add it again with No authentication.
